Brewer, Downtown Advocate, to Step Down at Centro

After 26 years heading groups committed to growing San Antonio's downtown, Centro San Antonio Executive Vice President Ben Brewer will be leaving that post on Monday, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Brewer has headed the main downtown development organization, starting with the Downtown Owners Association in 1988, and morphing into the Downtown Alliance, the Downtown Community Development Corporation, and then into Centro San Antonio.   Brewer is an architect by profession and has practiced in San Antonio and Houston.

Centro Chairman Don Frost said Brewer will' pursue new personal and business opportunities.'

"Ben has been a staunch advocate for our center city for more than a quarter of a century," Frost said.  "He helped lay the foundation for many important revitalization efforts and I am confident that he will continue to be one of downtown's biggest cheerleaders."

Brewer says he will continue to live and work in downtown San Antonio.
