San Antonio has lost its bid to host the 2016 Olympic swimming trials, 1200 WOAI news reports.
USA Swimming awarded the bid to Omaha, spurning domed stadiums in the other two finalist cities, San Antonio and St. Louis.
San Antonio Sports had mounted a citywide campaign called 'I'm in!' to convince the organization to award the bid to the Alamodome.
The plan was to build three Olympic pools on the floor of the dome, one for the competition would be in the old Spurs configuration, and the other two, for warm up, would have been on the other side of the curtain.
"USA Swimming did an excellent job of conducting the bid process," San Antonio Sports President Russ Bookbinder said. "Good luck to Omaha and USA Swimming in 2016."
