SA Fourth Fastest Growing City in USA

Say hello to your 24,400 new neighbors.

San Antonio was the fourth fastest growing city in the USA in the year betwen July of 2011 and July of 2012, according to figures release this morning by the Census Bureau, adding 24,400 residents.

San Antonio remains the country's seventh largest city, just behind #6 Phoenix and just ahead of #8 San Diego.  Dallas fell to #9, but Austin jumped two spots, leapfrogging Jacksonville and Indianapolis to become the 11th largest city in the USA.

In fact, eight of the fifteen fastest growing cities in the USA are in Texas.

San Marcos was the single fastest growing city in the country during that year, among cities of 50,000 or more.

Other Texas cities which added the most people include Houston, Dallas, and Ft. Worth, as well as Midland and Cedar Park.

Demographers credit the state's overall economic strength, as well as the growth of the energy industry, for the huge influx of new residents.
