Pimps Arrested, Child Sex Trafficking Victims Rescued in SA

A nationwide child sex trafficking ring called Operation Cross Country has resulted in the arrest of four pimps and one juvenile in San Antonio, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Nationwide, FBI Agent Ron Hosko of the Criminal Investigation Division says the coordinated sweeps took place in 76 cities.

"It resulted in the recovery of 105 children, and the arrest of 150 pimps," Hosko said.

The vast majority of the children rescued were girls, and all were between the ages of 13 and 17.

Most of the teenagers were runaways, and Hosko says the pimps had their claws in these youngsters within 48 hours of their leaving home.

"We call these children with a void," Hosko said.  "The offender, the pimp, takes advantage of this void and makes every attempt to fill it with their actions."

Hosko says several other items were seized in addition to the arrests and the rescues.

"The FBI and our partners conducted 28 searches, with 129 seizures of cash, drugs, vehicles, and firearms," he said.

Pimps were also arrested and teenaged victims rescued in Dallas, Houston, and El Paso.
