NB Police SWAT Team Arrests Kidnapper, Rescues Victim

The New Braunfels Police Department SWAT Team moved in today and rescued a woman who had been kidnapped by gunpoint by a man less than an hour earlier, 1200 WOAI news reports.

 

New Braunfels Police Captain John McDonald says police were called on a report of an adult female who had been 'taken against her will at gunpoint' on the I-35 access road near Walnut Street, just east of downtown New Braunfels.

 

Police acting on information discovered the kidnapper and the victim in a hotel in the 900 block of Business 35 North, about a mile away.

 

SWAT officers moved in, and arrested the male gunman. The victim was with him and was unharmed.

 

The man, who has not been identified, will be charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Kidnapping, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

 

Police have not said what the relationship was between the gunman and the victim.
