Monday Night's Alamo Bowl the Second Biggest Ever

Monday evening's Valero Alamo Bowl will go into the record books as the second most attended game in the twenty year history of the game, as 65,918 packed the house to watch Oregon dismantle Texas at Mack Brown's final game as the Longhorns head coach, 1200 WOAI news reports.

"The game was a little bit one sided in the final score, but there was a lot of energy and a lot of emotion in the building, and I think things played out really well," Alamo Bowl President and CEO Derrick Fox told 1200 WOAI news.

Last night's crowd surpassed the previous number two game, the 2006 Alamo Bowl that pitted Iowa against the Longhorns, and came close to the all time record crowd in 2007, when Penn State took on Texas A&M.

Fox says the Alamo Bowl will rise even more in 2014, when the game this coming December will pit the number one schools from both the Big 12 and the Pac 12.
