Freeze, Sleet, Ice Seen in San Antonio Area Tonight, Tomorrow Morning

Texas is about to plunge into the deep freeze as the annual Cowboy Breakfast will again take place amid the worst weather of the winter, 1200 WOAI News reports.

The Weather Channel says in addition to falling temperatures, the Hill Country could see ice and as much as a quarter inch of snow, mainly late tonight and early tomorrow morning.

Metro San Antonio is expected to see sleet and possibly ice covering bridges and overpasses, making the morning commute and the drive to the Cowboy Breakfast, particularly treacherous.

"DPS is asking drivers to use extra caution on Texas roadways as an arctic front moves into areas of the state," DPS Director Steve McCraw said, warning of 'extremely dangerous driving conditions' in many parts of the state.

As is typical for storms like this, as soon as the tacos and coffee are packed away, conditions will begin to improve.  By Saturday we'll be back into the mid 60s, and Sunday we will see temperatures in the upper 70s to near 80 across the San Antonio metro.
