A bumbling San Antonio killer is one step closer to execution today, 1200 WOAI news reports.
A federal appeals court has rejected Taichin Preyor's claim that he was only defending himself when he stabbed and slashed 20 year old Jamie Tackett to death in her San Antonio apartment in November of 2004.
Preyor, 42, who was a truck driver at the time, is also not the brightest bulb in the pack. Testimony at his murder trial indicated that he successfully got out of the apartment building after killing Tackett and slashing and stabbing Tackett's boyfriend...but when he got to the parking lot to make his getaway, he realized that he had left his keys in Tackett's apartment.
Amazingly, he re-entered the blood stained apartment to look for his car keys. While he was in there, police, who had been summoned by the boyfriend, subdued and arrested him.
Testimony indicated that Tackett was Preyor's drug supplier. Police say Tackett was trying to burglarize Tackett's apartment at the time of the killing.
