Bob Dylan just might receive a special award from France. His nomination for the Legion of Honor has been approved. The grand chancellor of the Legion of Honor council said in a letter to the "Le Monde" newspaper that Dylan is an "exceptional artist" who is internationally known as a "tremendous singer and great poet."
Another French newspaper reported last month that the famed singer-songwriter had been rejected as a possible recipient over his views on the Vietnam War and his suspected use of marijuana.
The Legion of Honor is France's most prestigious award, which recognizes excellence from both military members and civilians as well as foreigners who have served France or upheld French ideals. Paul McCartney received the award last year.
